Democrat Texas mayor blasts White House’s inaction on border crisis: ‘We need you to visit’

Last week, the Texas city of Del Rio saw an estimated 15,000 migrants pour in from across the southern border. That’s led to serious criticism of the Biden administration — and not just from Republicans.

As The Daily Wire reported, Democrat Del Rio Mayor Bruno Lozano recently issued a sharp rebuke of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris over their handling of the ongoing crisis at the U.S.–Mexico border.

Lozano pointed out in a tweet that Harris took time to attend a Howard University football game over the weekend and posted a video of herself at the event.

“It’s great to be back at The Mecca,” proclaimed Harris, who is a Howard University graduate. She added, “We all know who the real HU is.”

Mayor to Harris: “We need you to visit”

Lozano, for his part, made clear that he was unimpressed, declaring in tweet shared by The Daily Caller:

The VP is able to visit the fun events across the country, while American communities continue to grapple with failed immigration reform. Where is the visit to Del Rio, TX?

The mayor followed that up with another tweet that featured an aerial photo showing thousands of migrants crowding under a bridge. “We need you to visit Del Rio, Texas,” he stated.

The South Texas mayor went on to take issue with another tweet that the vice president put out in which she complained: “The U.S. is falling behind, on a global scale, on investing in childcare.”

Harris added: “We invest fewer public dollars in early childhood education and care relative to GDP than almost all other developed countries. With our Build Back Better Agenda, @POTUS and I are determined to change that.”

“Where is your plan?”

“The US is failing to protect its borders,” Del Rio’s mayor snapped in response, demanding, “Why aren’t you here?”

Lozano wasn’t finished. As The Daily Wire noted, he then drew a contrast between how Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) has responded to the crisis and the White House’s handling of it — or lack thereof.

“The President has a plan for taxes. Where is the plan to protect our southern border?” Lozano pressed, according to The Daily Wire. “Where is your plan to protect American communities at the southern border?”

He added: “I spoke to Governor Abbott today. We have developed a temporary plan, we’d like to see yours.”
