WH appears to end COVID briefings amid controversial CDC recommendations

The Biden administration is missing in action.

According to Breitbart, on the heels of the latest, confusing mask guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Biden’s White House has stopped holding COVID-19 press briefings, at least for now.

What’s happening?

The White House’s COVID-19 press briefings seemingly came to an end after the CDC announced its latest mask guidance, which sparked a flurry of questions from all corners of the mainstream media.

In its latest update, the CDC recommended a return to wearing facemasks in indoor settings. The guidance applies to both vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals who live in areas of the country where COVID-19 transmission rates are “substantial” or “high.” In other words, the CDC’s recommendation, more or less, covers a bulk of America.

The updated CDC mask guidance has been met with severe backlash, in part, because vaccinated people don’t understand why they have to return to wearing masks if they are vaccinated, which was one of the key incentives for taking the experimental vaccination. The CDC’s answer, at least so far, is because the vaccinated can reportedly transmit the virus to the unvaccinated.

However, on Tuesday, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki struggled to provide clarity on the same concern.

Suddenly, the COVID-19 press briefings came to a grinding halt.

“Of all the weeks”

Toward the end of the week, the Biden administration was pressed by reporters about why the COVID-19 press briefings seemed to suddenly stop. NBC’s Kelly O’Donnell asked, “Why are the doctors not here in the briefing to take our questions?” CBS’s Weijia Jiang followed up, asking, “Of all the weeks not to hold — have a COVID briefing, why this week?”

White House deputy press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre appeared to play defense on the questions, which they likely anticipated. Jean-Pierre’s position on the situation was that the COVID-19 press briefings were not necessary because the administration has been answering questions elsewhere.

For example, Jean-Pierre said that Biden had given a “30-minute speech” on Thursday. She also claimed that CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky and National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) Director Dr. Anthony Fauci have been making television appearances.

Suffice to say that it wasn’t the most convincing performance by a White House communications official.

Americans demand to know what’s really going on with the CDC’s latest guidance, and why it changed so drastically over the course of a few months. As of this writing, there still seems to be a glaring lack of clarity from the White House, leaving unanswered questions for millions of Americans.
