WH dismisses as 'lies' and 'inaccuracies' bank records that show Biden family paid by Chinese company through associate

March 24, 2023

The Republican-led House Oversight Committee revealed last week that it had obtained bank records which showed money from a Chinese regime-owned energy firm was transferred through a third party to at least three, if not four, members of President Joe Biden's immediate family.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was asked about that evidence on Wednesday but refused to respond and instead dismissed the committee's records-based claims as "lies," Fox News reported.

That assertion from Jean-Pierre followed President Biden himself rejecting the committee's records-based report as "not true" last week.

Biden family received money from a Chinese company

On March 16, the House Oversight Committee revealed that it had obtained bank records from a former business associate of Hunter Biden, Rob Walker, which showed that Walker's business had received a wire transfer for $3 million in March 2017 from the Chinese government-owned State Energy HK Limited.

The very next day, Walker's company wired $1,065,000 to another Hunter Biden business associate, James Gilliar, and then wired roughly the same amount, about one-third of the initial $3 million, to several accounts linked to Biden family members or companies they owned. That included President Biden's son Hunter, his brother James Biden, and daughter-in-law Hallie, as well as an otherwise unidentified individual known only as "Biden."

"Over the course of several years, members of the Biden family and their companies received over $1.3 million in payments from accounts related to their associate, Rob Walker," Oversight Chairman James Comer (R-KY) said in a statement. "Most of this money came as a result of a wire from a Chinese energy company and went not only to Hunter and James Biden, but also to Hallie Biden and an unknown ‘Biden.’ It is unclear what services were provided to obtain this exorbitant amount of money."

"The Oversight Committee is concerned about the national security implications resulting from President Biden’s family receiving millions of dollars from foreign nationals," he added. "We will continue to follow the money trail and facts to determine if President Biden is compromised by his family’s business schemes and if there is a national security threat."

Biden and White House denials

The very next day, as President Biden was preparing to board Marine One and leave the White House, he stopped briefly to speak with reporters and was asked about the House committee's report about his "family dealings," of which the president initially feigned ignorance.

The reporter clarified that they were referencing "that Hunter Biden’s business associate sent over a million dollars to three of your family members. Any reaction to that?" Biden simply replied, "That’s not true."

Fast-forward to Wednesday's press briefing at the White House, when Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy asked Jean-Pierre, "House Oversight says they’ve got bank records showing a Chinese energy company paying three Biden family members through a third party. What were they paid for?"

"Look, I’m -- I’m just not going to respond to that from here. Look, we have heard from House Republicans for years and years and years how -- how -- the inaccuracies and lies when it comes to this issue," Jean-Pierre replied. "And I don’t even [know] where to begin to even answer that question because, again, it’s been lies and lies and inaccuracy for the past couple years. And I’m just not going to get into it from here."

The White House is lying

Fox News noted that the dismissive denial from Jean-Pierre did not go over well on social media, in that the committee has obtained actual bank records that show the wire transfers to the Biden family from the Chinese energy firm through a third party.

It appears instead that, in fact, it is the White House -- and not House Republicans -- who are blatantly telling the American public "lies" and "inaccuracies" about the Biden family finances in order to try and cover up its clearly exposed links to the Chinese Communist Party.
