White House touts America’s struggling economy, ‘stronger’ than ever

We have seen some of the worst inflation in decades and experts believe the United States is either heading into a recession or might already be in one. Yet, the Biden administration continues to try to convince Americans that the U.S. economy is the best it has ever been.

Fox News reports that White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre recently made the absurd claim that the U.S. is “stronger economically than we have been in history.”

Yes, she really said it

Jean-Pierre made the comment during a press briefing that she held last Thursday. It occurred during an exchange between Jean-Pierre and Fox News’ Peter Doocy.

The line of questioning started off with Doocy asking Jean-Pierre why it is that she thinks 88% of Americans are saying that the country, under the leadership of the Biden administration, is on the wrong track.

After Jean-Pierre attempted to deflect blame away from the Biden administration and after she claimed that President Joe Biden “has a plan,” Doocy asked, “Do you think it’s possible that your plan just is not popular with the American people right now?”

That’s when Jean-Pierre said this:

I don’t think it’s that our plan is not popular with the American people. We know that the American people are feeling the high costs. We understand what they are feeling because when you look at inflation — when you look at where we are economically, and we are stronger economically than we have been in history, when you look at the unemployment numbers at 3.6%, when you look at the jobs numbers, more than 8.7 million new jobs created. That is important.

To repeat, Jean-Pierre said, “we are stronger economically than we have been in history.”

That’s absurd!

Believe it or not, something that Jean-Pierre said is true. It is that the labor market is doing all right.

The U.S. Department of Labor, last week, released its latest jobs report, and it showed that the U.S. economy added 372,000 jobs in June and that the unemployment rate remained at 3.6%.

These are good things, and the Biden administration, accordingly, has been using them to claim that the U.S. economy is healthy. The problem, though, is that there is a lot more to the U.S. economy than these job numbers – as anyone who has taken a recent trip to the grocery store knows.

At least polls indicate that the Biden administration isn’t fooling anyone here. A recent New York Times poll found that only 1% of Americans consider Biden’s economy to be excellent, only 9% consider it to be good, and only 29% consider it to be fair.

It would appear that the Biden administration’s propaganda isn’t working.
