Never Trumper Rick Wilson dashed off an unhinged, bitter article calling for Trump supporters to be thrown in prison.
In his latest vulgar rant, the Daily Beast editor-at-large suggests that Trump supporters should be “humiliated” and punished for the crime of supporting a president Wilson personally dislikes.
Rick Wilson calls for Trump supporters to be jailed
In the op-ed for the left-wing Daily Beast titled, “We Won’t Forgive And We Won’t Forget what Trumpists did to America,” Wilson airs vengeful fantasies against Trump’s “sycophants.”
Echoing recent calls from the Left for some kind of “reckoning,” Wilson suggests that “pain, humiliation,” and “incarceration” may be necessary to put the “foul spawn” who support Trump in their place.
“Remember, the Trump GOP is shorn of all ideological and philosophical pretense, and even when Trump leaves office, it’s not over,” Wilson wrote. “His cultists’ reign of terror will shape elected GOP members as long as he and his foul spawn walk the earth unpunished. Only exposure, pain, humiliation, and (inshallah) incarceration will lead to a moment of reckoning for the GOP. It should start at the top and work down from there.”
Wilson, who is mostly known for attacking Trump and his supporters in tweets, trashy books, and cable news segments, ironically compared Republicans who support Trump to prostitutes.
“America is watching them experiencing a combination of fury and humiliation as Trump heads to the door before even dropping the cash on the nightstand,” Wilson said.
Lincoln Project criticized as “failure,” scam
Wilson is a co-founder of the Lincoln Project, a group of Never Trump consultants and has-beens known for its vicious advertisements targeting Trump this election cycle. The project has been described by critics as a grift and, in light of the 2020 election results, a failure.
Despite the Lincoln Project’s efforts, Donald Trump increased his vote share among Republicans this year, contradicting the reason for the group’s existence.
The group recently organized a harassment campaign against lawyers helping Donald Trump challenge voter fraud claims in the 2020 election.
Wilson came under fire earlier this year for mocking Trump supporters, who comprise the vast majority of Republican voters, as “rubes” in a CNN segment.
