Reporter Jack Posobiec has indicated that the Biden administration is now looking to part ways with Dr. Anthony Fauci, the head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID).
“White House staff are actively discussing an exit strategy for Dr. Anthony Fauci following the release of his emails yesterday, per WH official,” Posobiec tweeted on Wednesday.
Fauci had already been facing pressure as the result of the fact that he sent American funds over to the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV), the lab where it is appearing more and more likely that the coronavirus originated.
Things got worse for Fauci this week with the release of emails detailing his handling of the coronavirus pandemic. These emails are still being read through, but there have already been a number of important finds.
Some of the more important ones, at least so far, show Fauci’s interaction with George Gao, his Chinese counterpart. As the Washington Post reports:
The released emails show that Fauci indeed tried to answer many queries, sometimes hitting “send” well after midnight. And even as Trump ratcheted up attacks on China for not containing the virus after it was first discovered there, Fauci sought to maintain ties with Gao, a well-regarded Chinese scientific leader — and Gao with him.
In another email, Fauci can be seen admitting that the “typical mask you buy at the drugstore is not really effective in keeping out the virus, which is small enough to pass through the material.”
Other emails show Fauci working to try to determine if the United States had funded coronavirus research at the Wuhan lab after he denied that the country did so.
And still, other emails show that Fuaci recommending canceling religious “services,” in response to the coronavirus, while okaying the continuance of campaign rallies, for example.
It is because of all of this that the White House now appears to be looking to part ways with Fauci. A number of Republicans are also calling for Fauci’s firing. Among them is Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY).
“Told you,” he tweeted along with the hashtag “#firefauci.”
Other Republicans, including the Fox News Channel’s Tucker Carlson, are also calling for Fauci to be investigated.
It appears that Fuaci’s 15 minutes of fame is rapidly coming to an end.
