President Joe Biden and his administration are going all-in on his coronavirus vaccine mandate.
Breitbart reports that Biden just unveiled his plan to enforce the mandate, which includes “planned inspections” and hefty fines.
Back in September, President Biden issued a coronavirus vaccine mandate for employers with more than 100 employees. Under this mandate, employers have to force their employees to either get vaccinated or undergo routine testing.
This week, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the agency that Biden tasked with implementing this mandate, announced its rule. Those subject to the mandate now have until January 4th to get vaccinated or to start undergoing routine testing. Religious and medical exemptions are allowed.
Altogether, this mandate is said to affect some 80 million individuals. It is unclear, however, how many of these individuals are already vaccinated.
A senior Biden official on Thursday discussed the enforcement mechanism for OSHA’s new coronavirus vaccine rule.
“We also will be having some programmed or planned inspections where we do go to workplaces to check to make certain that the workplace is in compliance with the rule,” the official said.
As for who to target, the official said that, mostly, they will be focusing on those employers where employees complained about their working status.
In the case of non-compliance, a business will have to pay $14,000 per violation. But, if the business continues to be non-compliant, willful or repeated violations of the rule could raise the penalty up to $136,532.
We also ought not to forget that the mandate also targets health care facilities that receive federal funding through Medicare and Medicaid. The official said that termination is certainly a possibility if such facilities refuse to come into compliance.
This is what the Biden administration is trying to get away with. Republicans, however, are going to be fighting to prevent it from doing so.
Lawsuits against the Biden administration are expected to come in thick, particularly from Republican attorneys general. And, Senate Republicans are trying to put a stop to Biden’s vaccine mandate using the Congressional Review Act. At this point, though, it appears that the courts will be the Republicans’ best shot.
