It is unclear when or even if President Joe Biden is going to visit the southern border. But, former President Donald Trump soon might.
Breitbart reports Jason Miller, one of Trump’s closest advisers, as revealing that Trump may visit the southern border “soon.”
“We discussed that recently, I could see him doing that soon,” Miller said.
Miller’s comments came this week during an appearance on The Michael Berry Show. There, Miller talked about the possibility of Trump visiting the southern border during the ongoing crisis.
Miller said that the possibility is being given some serious consideration, but that Trump doesn’t want to give the wrong impression.
“I think there’s a very fine line between calling someone out on policies and then appearing to do something that’s showboating or give Joe Biden an opportunity to point and say, ‘See this isn’t serious, look at President Trump down at the border making a scene out of this’,” Miller said.
Accordingly, Miller said that the trip likely would not take place “immediately,” but that he “could see a trip at some point in the future here.” “But it is something that President Trump is really concerned about,” Miller added.
“It is squalor”
This week, former President Trump, himself, made an appearance on the Fox News Channel to discuss the southern border crisis. He called the conditions that migrants are being kept in “inhumane.”
“These children and people are, tremendous number of children by the way, and they are living on top of each other,” Trump said. “In squalor. It is squalor. They’re living in very dangerous conditions, there’s no testing for COVID-19,”
Trump’s comments came after President Joe Biden downplayed the seriousness of the southern border crisis during his first solo press conference. There, Biden claimed that what we are seeing “happens every single solitary year.”
The president also said that he made “no apologies” for undoing Trump’s immigration policies. Republicans argue that this is exactly what has led to the southern border crisis.
Biden, previously, said that he would visit the border “at some point.” Biden has put Vice President Harris in charge of the diplomatic aspect of the southern border crisis. Harris has said that she will soon visit the border with Biden, although no timeline for that visit has been set.
