A new poll combined with the speech that President Joe Biden just gave may be a harbinger of things to come.
Breitbart reports that a recently released poll from Reuters/Ipsos shows that a majority of Americans would be in favor of imposing restrictions on those people who have not received a coronavirus vaccination.
The poll was taken on March 8th and 9th. 1,005 people participated, and the margin of error is 4 percentage points.
Overall, 72 percent of respondents said that it is either “somewhat important” or “very important” “to know if the people around me have been vaccinated from the coronavirus.”
63 percent of respondents “somewhat agree” or “strongly agree” that “people should be required to get a vaccine before they can travel on an airplane,” 59 percent, before one can enroll in school, 54 percent, before one can work out at the gym, 56 percent, before one can go to a concert or theater, and 66 percent said that they “somewhat agree” or “strongly agree” that a person ought to be required to get vaccinated before one can work in an office.
When party affiliation is factored in, it becomes clear that far more Democrat respondents are in favor of such ideas than Republican respondents.
“I need you to get vaccinated”
President Joe Biden this week gave his first prime time address. Its purpose was to mark the one-year anniversary of coronavirus lockdowns being imposed on America.
In that speech, Biden marked July 4th as a day on which Americans might be able to safely gather again – at least in small groups. But, Biden insisted that in order for that to happen – and furthermore in order for any kind of normalcy to return to America – people need to get vaccinated.
“I need you to get vaccinated when it’s your turn, and when you can find an opportunity,” Biden said.
Biden, accordingly, said that he is aiming to make it possible for all U.S. adults to be eligible to be vaccinated by May 1st. He expects to have enough doses to vaccinate each American adult by the end of May.
When one combines the poll with Biden’s remarks, it does not seem impossible for there to be a coronavirus vaccine requirement in order for people to participate in various aspects of life. There is already talk going on about “vaccine passports.”
What do you think about such ideas?
