Pres. Biden is facing three new impeachment articles

President Joe Biden was just hit with three articles of impeachment, the Washington Examiner reports

The articles were filed on Tuesday by Rep. Bob Gibbs (R-OH). And, they are co-sponsored by Reps. Andy Biggs (R-AZ), Brian Babin (R-TX), and Randy Weber (R-TX).

The allegations

Since Biden took office, we have seen a number of House Republicans file impeachment articles against him. But, this is the first one that puts forth three articles of impeachment.

In the first impeachment article, Biden is accused of violating his constitutional oath in his handling of the southern border crisis. Here, Gibbs, among other things, calls attention to the fact that the Biden administration has been releasing illegal immigrants – sometimes coronavirus-positive illegal immigrants – into American communities without even giving them a date to appear in court.

Next, in the second impeachment article, Biden is accused of violating the Constitution’s separation of powers doctrine by trying to extend the eviction moratorium without a legislative directive. Gibbs also notes that Biden did so despite the U.S. Supreme Court’s warning that such a move would likely be unconstitutional.

And finally, in the third impeachment article, Gibbs accuses Biden of failing “to act responsibly as Commander in Chief” in his withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan.

Will it work?

As stated earlier, several other House Republicans have brought impeachment articles against Biden during the first eight months of his presidency. None have really gotten anywhere: none, in fact, even got much Republican support.

Gibbs, in an interview with the Washington Examiner, acknowledges that his impeachment articles are also unlikely to get anywhere giving the fact that the Democrats have the majority.

But, for Gibbs, this doesn’t mean they are pointless.

“Maybe something like this makes the White House think twice before they do some of this nonsense,” Gibbs suggested.

Gibbs also said that his impeachment articles show “that there are some Republicans that think that this president needs to be impeached, he needs to be removed from office one way or another.”

He added that, “at some point, they’re gonna be held accountable for their actions, and this is kind of putting them on notice.”
