This past week, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updated its coronavirus guidance to recommend that many, including the vaccinated, return to wearing facemasks indoors. It appears that this may be only the start of what is to come.
Breitbart reports that President Joe Biden, this week, suggested that more coronavirus restrictions are in the future.
“In all probability,” Biden said on Friday in reply to a question from a reporter about whether more coronavirus restrictions are likely.
The president, though, didn’t clarify what these restrictions might be, including whether another lockdown is a possibility.
Vaccine mandates might be on the cards
On Friday, Rochelle Walensky, the director of the CDC, seemed to suggest that the federal government is considering mandating coronavirus vaccines.
During an appearance on the Fox News Channel’s “Special Report,” Walensky was asked, “Are you for mandating a vaccine on a federal level.”
That’s something that I think the administration is looking into. It’s something that I think we are looking to see approval of from the vaccine. Overall, I think in general, I am all for more vaccination. But, I have nothing further to say on that except that we are looking into those policies.
The whole thing seemed pretty straightforward. But, Walensky, later on, felt the need to clarify her statement. She wrote on Twitter:
To clarify: There will be no nationwide mandate. I was referring to mandates by private institutions and portions of the federal government. There will be no federal mandate.
This all comes as the Delta variant of the coronavirus appears to be causing another surge in coronavirus cases.
At the moment, all we are seeing at the federal level is the CDC’s latest facemask recommendation. But, now, local governments and many private institutions are using that guidance update as some sort of justification for various coronavirus measures, including vaccine mandates.
Many Americans, however, are reluctant to go along with these measures as many questions remain unclear, including why masks are once again necessary for the vaccinated, how dangerous the Delta variant really is, and how effective coronavirus vaccines really are. In response to the questions, the only thing that Americans are getting is a scripted response from the Biden administration.
It certainly feels as though we are reaching a make-or-break moment with the Democrat-led coronavirus policy that the country, largely, has been following.
