Pres. Biden tries to pin Afghanistan failure on Trump, Trump responds

President Joe Biden is trying to blame the loss of Afghanistan to the Taliban on former President Donald Trump, but Trump isn’t having it.

Breitbart reports that Trump released a statement on Saturday explaining why it is that Biden and his administration are at fault for the Afghanistan debacle.

But first, let’s catch you up on the situation.

The Taliban has already taken over the majority of Afghanistan, and it is getting ready to head into Kabul, where a U.S. Embassy is located. It is the withdrawal of American troops from the country that allowed this to happen.

That withdrawal was started by Trump, but Biden decided to follow through with, albeit, in his own way. The withdrawal is scheduled to be completed by the end of the month, but upwards of 95 percent of U.S. troops have already left Afghanistan.

At the moment, though, Biden has had to send thousands of troops in to try to evacuate Americans safely from the country. And, then, it is going to be what retired General Jack Keane is calling an “embarrassing retreat.” And, it made even more embarrassing by the fact that, just a month ago, Biden told us that this wouldn’t be happening, that the Taliban wouldn’t be taking over Afghanistan like this.

This is why Biden is trying to pin all the blame on Trump, saying, recently, “when I came to office, I inherited a deal cut by my predecessor that left the Taliban in the strongest position militarily since 2001.” And, obviously, you know where Biden went from there.

Trump, though, as stated, isn’t having it.

Trump responds

In a statement released on Saturday, Trump explained why it is that, even though he put in place the withdrawal, Biden is to blame for the Taliban taking over Afghanistan.

In that statement, Trump accused Biden of not following the plan that he put in place “that protected our people and our property, and ensured the Taliban would never dream of taking our Embassy or providing a base for new attacks against America.”

According to Trump, part of the plan was a “credible deterrent,” and, the problem with Biden is that, as a result of his policies, “that deterrent is now gone.” Trump said, “The Taliban no longer has fear or respect for America or America’s power.”

Former CIA director and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has also noted that the withdrawal agreed to by the Trump administration was not without conditions. And, one of those conditions was that the Taliban leaves America alone.

The simple fact is that America, under Biden, just doesn’t have the same level of respect from its enemies that it had under Trump. The Taliban situation in Afghanistan is one of many examples. This is why Biden’s attempt to try to blame the Afghanistan situation on Trump is laughable.
