Republicans respond to Pres. Biden’s vaccine mandate

Republican politicians are offering Americans hope following President Joe Biden’s latest coronavirus vaccine mandate.

Outlets are reporting that a number of Republican governors and Republican attorneys general are threatening to take the Biden administration to court over the vaccine mandate.

“An assault”

As would be expected, among those Republican governors to take aim at Biden following his vaccine mandate are Ron DeSantis (R-FL), Greg Abbott, (R-TX), and Kristi Noem (R-SC). All three have released statements following Biden’s announcement.

“I do not believe that people should lose their jobs over this issue, and we will fight that,” DeSantis said, in part. “If they try to do that through a rule like the Department of Labor, I don’t think they have the legal authority to do that, but we obviously would want to support protections for people who are just trying to earn a living.”

Abbott, on the other hand, said:

Biden’s vaccine mandate is an assault on private businesses. I issued an Executive Order protecting Texans’ right to choose whether they get the COVID vaccine & added it to the special session agenda. Texas is already working to halt this power grab.

And, Noem simply said, “@JoeBiden see you in court.” She added, “My legal team is standing by ready to file our lawsuit the minute @joebiden files his unconstitutional rule. This gross example of federal intrusion will not stand.”

“Taking federal overreach to unheard of levels”

The Daily Caller reports that a number of Republican attorneys general, including those from Arizona, Missouri, Montana, Georgia, and more, have also vowed to take legal action again Biden’s vaccine mandate. Among them is Arizona’s Mark Brnovich.

“I am reviewing his outrageous actions and will take all legal recourse to defend our state’s sovereignty and the rights of Arizonans to make the best healthcare decisions for themselves,” Brnovich said.

A spokesperson for Montana Attorney General Austin Knudsen similarly said, “Attorney General Knudsen will be exploring all possible legal avenues to protect businesses and hard-working Montanans from this lawless mandate which infringes on our rights.”

“To protect Americans and their liberties”

Lastly, the Republican National Committee (RNC), through chairwoman Ronna McDaniel, threatened legal action. She said, that once Biden’s mandate goes into effect “the RNC will sue the administration to protect Americans and their liberties.”

This all comes after Biden on Thursday announced a vaccine mandate for employers with more than 100 employees as well as for health workers employed by facilities that receive federal Medicare or Medicaid. In total, it is believed that 100 million Americans could be affected if the mandate goes into effect.

It is certainly good to see Republican politicians take a stand. But, Republican Americans want to see action and results. We’ll see if these politicians get either.
