President Donald Trump has backed the military. Now, the military is backing him.
This week the Trump campaign released two letters from members of the U.S. military offering their support ahead of the general election.
“The most important election” ever
Fox News has reported on the first letter, which was released earlier this week. It was signed by 235 retired military leaders – retired generals of the Army and Air Force as well as retired admirals of the Navy – who support President Trump’s reelection.
“As senior leaders of America’s military, we took an oath to defend the United States from all enemies, foreign and domestic,” the letter reads. “At present, our country is now confronted with enemies here and abroad, as well as a once-in-a-century pandemic. As retired military officers, we believe that Donald J. Trump has been tested as few other presidents have and is the proven leader to confront these dangers.”
Elsewhere in the letter, the retired military leaders contrasted the Trump administration with its predecessor, the Obama-Biden administration, praising Trump for rebuilding the military that his predecessor neglected.
“Joe Biden’s record on the military and veterans is one of failure: debilitating budget cuts, failed foreign policy decisions, and an inability to provide our nation’s heroes with the quality health care they deserve,” they wrote.
The military leaders went on to contend that this is “the most important election since our country was founded.” They argued that “with the Democratic Party welcoming socialists and Marxists, our historic way of life is at stake.” And, they made it clear that, under these circumstances, they want Trump, not Biden, at the helm.
“We refuse to remain silent”
On Wednesday, Breitbart reported on the second letter. It was signed by some 800 military family members – Gold Star families, military spouses, military families, and military veterans – all in support of Trump’s reelection.
This letter, according to its authors, was written in response to the claim by liberal military spouses that all military spouses are against a Trump reelection. The truth, however, is to the contrary, the letter writers told Breitbart:
Oftentimes those voices who are the loudest attempt to convince everyone they speak for all, but we are here to stand up and be counted amongst those who refuse to have our voices silenced.
“Mr. President, there are hundreds of thousands of military spouses in this country who are forced into the silent majority. But we do support you,” they wrote in the letter. “We do not believe the lies and rumors that others try hard to spread. We stand tall with you.”
The authors concluded, “We had four years of your support and we look forward to four more years of having a Commander in Chief who loves and has a passion to lead our great nation.”
We, too, look forward to four more years of Trump-Pence, and all of this military support ought to help us get there.
