Dick Cheney says that he is voting for Vice President Kamala Harris over former President Donald Trump in the coming election. 

Cheney, according to CBS News, made the announcement in a statement that he released on Friday.

This is the same Dick Cheney who was vice president under President George W. Bush. And, it is the same man whose daughter is ousted U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY), the one who destroyed her political career because she could not contain her hatred for former President Donald Trump.

The greatest threat

Cheney claimed that he is voting for Trump over Harris because Trump is a great threat to America.

"In our nation's 248-year history, there has never been an individual who is a greater threat to our republic than Donald Trump," Cheney claimed.

He continued, "He tried to steal the last election using lies and violence to keep himself in power after the voters had rejected him. He can never be trusted with power again."

Cheney went on to call upon Americans to follow his lead.

"As citizens, we each have a duty to put country above partisanship to defend our Constitution. That is why I will be casting my vote for Vice President Kamala Harris," Cheney said.

Cheney "is an irrelevant RINO"

Former President Trump responded to Cheney's claim - that her father is voting for Harris - in a message that he posted to social media on Friday, Sept. 6, 2024.

There, he called Dick Cheney "an irrelevant RINO," meaning "Republican in name only."

Trump wrote:

Dick Cheney is an irrelevant RINO, along with his daughter, who lost by the largest margin in the History of Congressional Races! They couldn’t get Scooter Libby, who did so much for them (but was so unfairly treated!), PARDONED. I did it! He’s the King of Endless, Nonsensical Wars, wasting Lives and Trillions of Dollars, just like Comrade Kamala Harris. I am the Peace President, and only I will stop World War III!

Trump concluded by focusing his attention on Liz Cheney.

He wrote:

What Liz Cheney did with the Unselect Committee of Political Losers is unthinkable. She and her Unselects deleted and destroyed all evidence and information - IT’S GONE. Much of it proved that Nancy Pelosi was responsible for J6 - DIDN’T PROVIDE SECURITY. Cheney and the others should be prosecuted for what they did, but Comrade Kamala is even worse!
