A Democratic member of the U.S. House of Representatives just put out a timeline for Democrats to replace President Joe Biden on the presidential ticket. 

The Democrat to do so, according to Newsweek, is U.S. Rep. Jared Huffman (D-CA).

The congressman put forth the timeline in an interview that he did with CNN on Thursday.

This all follows Biden's poor performance at the recently held presidential debate.

"This was not just one bad night"

Suffice it to say that Huffman is not buying the narrative - put forth by former Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, the White House, and others - that Biden merely had a bad night at the first presidential debate.

"We've got to acknowledge that this was not just one bad night. This is a pretty pervasive and widespread perception that's been dragging President Biden down in the polls for many months," Huffman told CNN.

He went on to call upon his fellow Democrats to work together "to figure this out." Huffman suggested that the Democrats "have a couple of weeks to do it," and that they should wait to do it until after the Republican National Convention, which is scheduled to take place on July 18. This is when former President Donald Trump will be named the Republican Party's presidential nominee.

"We probably don't want to finalize our ticket then if that's where we are and give them prime time to beat the heck out of it," Huffman said.

He added, "I think it would be far better to make our decision right after their spectacle, and then come together and go win this election."

Latest on Dems calling for Biden's withdrawal

Strangely, despite essentially calling upon Democrats to find a replacement for Biden, Huffman, thus far, has refused to call for Biden to withdraw from the 2024 presidential election.

Other House Democrats, though, have not been so shy. This includes U.S. Reps. Seth Moulton (D-MA), Raul Grijalva (D-AZ), and Lloyd Doggett (D-TX). These three individuals are the first three House Democrats to call for Biden to step aside.

There have been many more House Democrats, however, who have expressed serious doubt about Biden's future in politics, including, surprisingly, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).

Biden and the White House have tried their best to push back against these Democrats, with both insisting that Biden is going to be the Democrats' candidate in the 2024 presidential election.

The complicating factor, here, is that there is no obvious replacement option for Biden. If there was, then, surely, Biden would be replaced by now.
