Unity within the Democratic Party appears to be unraveling over mounting fears that President Joe Biden will lose to former President Donald Trump.

According to Breitbart, that panic can be seen in the way former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has been secretly working to end Biden's candidacy.

Pelosi giving Democrats "a subtle green light" to oppose Biden

Breitbart pointed to a recent report published by Politico Playbook which cited a "half-dozen lawmakers and others who have spoken with her or are familiar with these conversations."

The article alleged that Pelso has been giving "a subtle green light" for "members to speak up about their desire to see change atop the ticket — and to warn Biden to reconsider staying in the race."

It further stated that "in private conversations with lawmakers, we're told, the former Speaker hasn't tried to hide her disdain for the situation that party now finds itself in."

"She’s suggested to people that Biden won't win this November and should step aside, according to about a half-dozen lawmakers and others who have spoken with her or are familiar with these conversations," the article went on to add.

Pelosi claimed that Trump is the one with dementia

Despite this, Pelosi has publicly remained publicly adamant that Biden can prevail in November and focused her attacks on former President Donald Trump.

Following Biden's disastrous debate performance late last month, Pelosi suggested that it is actually Trump who is suffering from cognitive decline.

"By the way, the press and for some reason they don’t, there are healthcare professionals who think that Trump has dementia," Pelosi told CNN host Dana Bash.

"That his connection of his thoughts does not go together. It's not only that he just lies. He doesn’t even know the truth. So, if we’re talking about mental acuity, let's be fair about it," she insisted.

Growing doubts on Capitol Hill

However, a report put out by The Hill on Friday appears to corroborate Politico's claim that Pelosi is expressing doubts behind the scenes.

"I did have a conversation with her. She is very concerned," one Democratic lawmaker who spoke on the condition of anonymity said. "It's not like she’s like, 'We’re sticking with this guy.'"

Another remarked, "The stakes are so high. We can't afford to do anything but have our best possible opportunity to win."
