Biden sees warning signs as Trump gains Empire State

President Joe Biden's campaign is looking to lock down the states where the current president did well in the last election, securing his win for the second term.

However, problems in New York have many Democrats crying foul at the idea that Biden could lose a state where Trump was recently convicted of a myriad of criminal offenses, as Just The News reported.

In New York, a Democratic stronghold that has not voted in favor of a GOP presidential candidate since Ronald Reagan in 1984, Biden appears to be losing ground amid the intense scrutiny over his mental and physical fitness for a second term.

In New York, where Democrats outnumber Republicans 2-to-1, the presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump has reduced Biden's lead to just 8 points, according to polls conducted over the past four months.

The Trump side …

Additionally, the most recent RealClearPolitics.com poll average indicates that Trump maintains a single-digit advantage in nearly every battleground state, including Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.

Therefore, any victory in a blue state, such as New York, which has 28 electoral votes, would seriously prop up Trump's chance of winning.

Trump, despite the Democrats' winning streak in New York, has initiated campaigning in his former home state and in New Jersey with the intention of accomplishing this goal.

During the trial …

Because of the restrictions placed on him by the hush money prosecution, Trump had to resort to targeted stops in order to reach out to certain areas. He also staged a massive rally in Wildwood, New Jersey, at the beginning of May.

“All across America, millions of people in so-called ‘Blue States’ are joining our movement based on LOVE, INTELLIGENCE, and, above all, COMMON SENSE," he recently said.

As a result of Trump's pressure, Democrats in New York are more cognizant of their predicament and are calling on the Biden campaign to invest in the state.

Fear of losing votes ...

The potential for Biden to lose New York in 2024 has also prompted concerns among New York Democrats regarding down-ballot races.

Former New York Republican Representative Lee Zeldin's nearly successful campaign during the 2022 gubernatorial contest was widely recognized for assisting Republicans in capturing battleground House seats and resetting the lower chamber to red.

The eighth House Democrat to request that Biden step aside was New York Democratic Rep. Pat Ryan on Wednesday.

“I’d be doing a grave disservice if I said he was the best candidate to serve this fall,” he said to the New York Times. "For the good of our country, for my two young kids, I’m asking Joe Biden to step aside in the upcoming election and deliver on the promise to be a bridge to a new generation of leaders.”
