Panicked Democrats falsely link Trump to Project 2025 as Biden's reelection campaign imploding
The left is fearmongering by linking former President Donald Trump with Project 2025, the New York Times reported. Trump doesn't support this agenda crafted by the Heritage Foundation.
Desperate for a winning strategy as President Joe Biden's reelection bid begins to implode, Democrats have turned to hysterical claims about a Trump presidency. They have once again latched onto the idea that he is poised for an authoritarian takeover.
This is the same playbook they ran unsuccessfully in 2016. However, this time, they claim that the blueprint for a new Trump-is-Hitler era is in the think tank's policy proposals.
"Project 2025 should scare every single American," Biden warned. "It would give Trump limitless power over our daily lives."
Devil in the Details
Of course, this strategy is built on lies about the agenda and Trump's ties to it. Project 2025 comes from the Heritage Foundation’s Mandate for Leadership series and not from the Trump campaign or even the Republican Party.
There is certainly some overlap, such as securing the U.S.-Mexico border and gutting the bureaucracy. The Times further states that Project 2025 proposes "criminalizing pornography, disbanding the Commerce and Education departments, rejecting the idea of abortion as health care and shredding climate protections."
Perhaps some of these are palatable to the GOP, but not all of it is to Trump. For instance, the presumed presidential nominee put the Republican Party into chaos saying he won't sign a federal abortion ban, according to CBS News.
"At the end of the day, this is all about the will of the people," Trump said in May. While he was instrumental in choosing conservative judges who overturned Roe v. Wade, it seems Trump has no further appetite to limit abortion.
Even NPR acknowledged that the 900-page proposal wasn't really Trump's after all before attempting to shackle him to it. However, none of this will stop Democrats from attempting to smear him in one last cry of desperation.
Trump's Response
As the attacks and frenzied predictions about Project 2025 continue from the left, Trump has repeatedly disavowed it. As usual, the truth will do nothing to stop Democrats from repeating their claims.
"I know nothing about Project 2025. I have no idea who is behind it," Trump posted to his Truth Social platform.
"I disagree with some of the things they’re saying, and some of the things they’re saying are absolutely ridiculous and abysmal. Anything they do, I wish them luck, but I have nothing to do with them," he added.
Even Project 2025 has taken to confirm it "does not speak for any candidate or campaign," the organizers told Fox News Digital in a statement. "Rather than obsessing over Project 2025, the Biden campaign should be addressing the 25th Amendment," the statement added, referring to Biden's mental unfitness for office.
Trump's enemies are becoming increasingly frightened as Americans are waking up to the truth about Biden's profound cognitive decline. The only hope they have is to whip up voters into a frenzy against Trump with their lies, but that strategy has diminishing returns the more they try it.
