A new photograph of Barron Trump - the youngest son of former President Donald Trump - has led to lots of speculation about his future, particularly about his future in politics. 

The Daily Beast goes so far as to suggest that the photograph proves that Barron Trump - not any of Donald Trump's other children - will be the true political heir of his father.

"You're pretty popular"

It took place at a campaign rally that the former president recently held in Florida. According to the New York Post, it was Barron Trump's "debut on the campaign trial." Up until this moment, the 18-year-old Barron Trump has stood on the sidelines with his mother, former First Lady Melania Trump.

The Post reports:

Donald Trump’s youngest son, Barron Trump, received a standing ovation Tuesday at his father’s Florida rally in what the former president suggested was the teenager’s debut on the campaign trail. Barron, 18, turned and waved to the crowd of Trump supporters at his father’s Doral golf course as the former president praised him for his smarts, demeanor, and rising popularity.

The former president, amid the cheers, joked, "You’re pretty popular. He might be more popular than [my other sons] Don and Eric," adding, "we got to talk about that."

This is what has led to the speculation about Barron's political future.

"MAGA Dynasty"

The Daily Beast, in describing the above situation, wrote that "Barron Trump looked born for the role."

Per the outlet:

Barron was sitting at the front of the crowd but as soon as Donald Trump pointed at him and began to introduce him, the 18-year-old moved like a practiced veteran. He lifted his 6’7” frame upwards, waved his right hand to all sides and acknowledged the applause. This looked easy.

Towering over those around him he then held a clenched left fist above his head in a power salute, turned to the crowd behind one more time and cracked a knowing, half-smile.

That was the money shot.

The outlet went on to suggest that Barron Trump's handling of the situation - not to mention previous reports indicating that he is very interested in politics - suggests that he could be the heir to his father's political fortune.

"Forget (for now) the grizzled, bearded Don Jr., or the other son. If you're wanting to craft a political dynasty to rival the Kennedys or the Clintons (which Trump aspires to) then Barron may just have assumed the starring role," the Daily Beast writes.

This may be a case of putting the cart before the horse, but it certainly is not outside the realm of possibility that the Trump family will be in politics for many years to come.
