'Squad' Democrat Cori Bush in danger of losing seat: poll

One of the most inflammatory members of Congress, far-left Missouri Democrat Cori Bush, is in danger of losing her seat to a primary competitor.

Bush would be the second member of the so-called "Squad" to lose her seat if she goes down in defeat in her August 6 primary. A new poll found Bush is 23 points behind St. Louis prosecutor Wesley Bell, the New York Post reported.

"Squad" member vulnerable

The "Squad" suffered its first major setback when New York rabblerouser Jamaal Bowman lost his primary bid in June.

Like Bowman - who is mostly known for pulling a fire alarm and was criticized for a foul-mouthed rant shortly before losing - Bush has acquired an extreme reputation since she was elected in 2020.

She is one of the loudest far-left voices in Congress, an unabashed advocate of defunding police and a strong critic of Israel.

A poll of primary voters in Missouri’s 1st Congressional District found that 56% support challenger Wesley Bell, while Bush has just 33%.

The McLaughlin & Associates survey was taken for a pro-Bell super PAC, CCA Action Fund. The poll surveyed 300 likely Democratic voters between June 28 and July 1.

Controversial lawmaker

Bush's approval ratings are also barely above water: 50% of registered Democrats have favorable views of her, compared to 47% unfavorable. 70% view Bell favorably and 18% view him unfavorably.

“Cori Bush has wasted her time in Congress to focus on her own fame in ‘The Squad’ — while her constituents suffer,” said Pastor Marc Little, spokesman for the anti-Bush CCA Action Fund, a super PAC.

“This poll proves St. Louis wants a representative who will champion our community and its prosperity and safety, and who will defend America — not a Cori Bush who wants to tear it all down.”

Last month, Jamaal Bowman decisively lost to Westchester County exec George Latimer, who received backing from the Clinton wing of the party. The race became a proxy for the Israel-Hamas divide in the Democratic party.

Like Bowman, Bush is a sharp critic of Israel and its alleged "genocide" of Palestinians. Bush has also bizarrely claimed that she has the power to miraculously heal people, and her campaign finance spending is under investigation.

Other members of the "Squad" have proven resilient, especially Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY). The notorious Democrat, one of the original "Squad" members, won her primary handily last month.
