Trump-era doctor suing MSNBC over accusations of 'mass hysterectomies' of migrant women

A  judge has ruled that the case of a doctor who was accused by MSNBC personalities of performing "mass hysterectomies" on women at a Trump-era immigration center in Georgia can go forward.

Mahendra Amin is suing NBC Universal for $30 million, and Judge Lisa Godbey Wood ruled last month that Rachel Maddow, Nicolle Wallace, and Chris Hayes made "verifiably false statements" about Amin's activities at a Georgia Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility.

The accusations started with a nurse whistleblower who said Amin was performing "mass hysterectomies" on migrant detainees that were not medically necessary and that he was known as "the uterus collector."

The nurse later said her allegations were based on hearsay, and an investigation showed that they were false.

The facts

Amin was found during a 2021 lawsuit against MSNBC to have performed only two hysterectomies, and both were deemed medically necessary by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

The lawsuit against NBC Universal came about because evidence showed that the parent company knew about the false allegations and participated in them, even while claiming to be non-partisan.

The cooperation between NBC and MSNBC was surprising to many who believed that NBC was really non-partisan and separate from the more political and left-wing MSNBC.

Messages and conference calls involving NBC standards employees showed that they had serious doubts about the whistleblower's credibility and that the allegations might not be true, but several segments were aired in support of the allegations anyway.

"We just don’t know if any of this is true," Chris Scholl, an NBC News veteran who is NBCUniversal's deputy director of standards, said in a conference call with Hayes on Sept. 16, 2020, notes from the discovery process said.

Blatant bias

Those on the right have long known that NBC is biased toward the political left.

The lawsuit and what it has uncovered just prove it to the rest of the world, if they will even listen.

MSNBC and NBC are really just two sides of one Democrat-favoring coin, and now they've been found out.

Whether the legal case pans out or not, what has been discovered is incriminating for a news agency that purports to be fair and neutral.

Most Americans are not fooled, but if it changes even a few minds and hearts, this case will be well worth it.
