Obama endorses Harris despite sources saying that he doubts her competency
While President Joe Biden was to endorse Vice President Kamala after ending his campaign, former President Barack Obama was initially hesitant to do so.
Yet despite reports that he questions Harris' competence, Obama is now taking over the narrative that she must be the Democratic Party nominee.
Former president "couldn't be prouder" of Harris
That fact became evident on Friday when the Harris campaign's official YouTube account released a video in which showed the vice president speaking to Obama and his wife via telephone.
Former First Lady Michelle Obama began by remarking, "I can't have this phone call without saying to my girl Kamala, I am proud of you. This is going to be historic. "
The former president then added, "We called to say, Michelle and I couldn't be prouder to endorse you and do everything we can to get you through this election and into the Oval Office."
I’m so proud of my girl, Kamala. Barack and I are so excited to endorse her as the Democratic nominee because of her positivity, sense of humor, and ability to bring light and hope to people all across the country. We’ve got your back, @KamalaHarris! pic.twitter.com/xldcZeDXuS

The video clip was also included in an X post from Mrs. Obama, who wrote that she and her husband "are so excited to endorse her as the Democratic nominee because of her positivity, sense of humor, and ability to bring light and hope to people all across the country."
Sources says Obama "knows she can't win"
Those words stand in sharp contrast to a New York Post article published earlier this week which cited an unnamed source said to be close with the Biden family.
"Obama's very upset because he knows she can't win," the anonymous individual was quoted as telling the newspaper.
"Obama knows she's just incompetent — the border czar who never visited the border, saying that all migrants should have health insurance. She cannot navigate the landmines that are ahead of her," the source continued.
"When you are running for president there are things you can and can't say," he or she stressed before adding, "Wait until the debate… She can’t debate. She’s going to put her foot in her mouth about Israel, Palestine, Ukraine."
Poll gives Trump a double-digit lead
"She’s going to say something really stupid," the individual predicted. "Obama knew this was going to happen, Joe knew this was going to happen. Now she is going to have to answer real questions."
Meanwhile, a recently released Harris X/Forbes survey appears to back up the idea that the vice president is a less than ideal candidate.
Carried out between July 19 and July 21, the poll found that Trump is backed by 52% of likely voters compared with 42% who favor Harris. When undecided voters were asked to make a choice, Trump's share grew to 54% while Harris' stood at 46%.
