Critics mock Kamala Harris' use of fake accent at campaign rally in Atlanta

Vice President Kamala Harris hosted a campaign rally in Atlanta this week, attracting what the Atlanta Journal-Constitution described as "her largest crowd yet."

Attendance numbers weren't the only thing about Harris' event that stood out, as critics noted that she seems to have adopted a fake accent.

Harris slips into a southern drawl for Georgia rally

In one viral video clip, Harris can be seen using an exaggerated drawl as she says, "And you all helped us win in 2020, and we gonna do it again in 2024. Yes we will. Yes we will."

That Harris would be heard speaking with a southern accent seems counter intuitive given that she spent her formative years growing up in Northern California and Canada.

One person declared on X, "It's all performative theater. She thinks the crowd won't notice if she goes out of her way to try to talk like she thinks they do."

Social media users compare Harris' accent with that of Hillary Clinton

Other social media users drew a parallel between Harris and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, with one individual writing, "If she says, 'I ain't in no ways tiyed,' I'll lose it."

Daily Wire contributor Matt Walsh made a similar comment in a post of his own, remarking, "Kamala seems to have developed Sudden Onset Urban Accent. A condition that the last female presidential candidate famously suffered from."

Conservative commentator Ian Haworth spoke up as well, stating that "Kamala Harris's fake southern accent puts Hillary Clinton to shame."

Those remarks were made in reference to a widely mocked statement Clinton made while speaking at an African American church in 2007.

Clinton also slipped into a pronounced southern accent when addressing a largely African American audience at a 2015 campaign event in Memphis.

Catholic group highlights rapper's support for abortion

Harris' questionable accent wasn't the only thing about her Atlanta rally which raised eyebrows, as the group Catholic Vote drew attention to a performance by rapper Megan Thee Stallion.

"Kamala Harris’ handlers just trotted out talentless rapper Megan Thee Stallion to twerk and gyrate in front of a rally crowd while barely rapping her song because it's so explicit to advocate for abortion," the group stated.

"This is the song she was rapping: 'Body crazy, curvy, wavy, big t*****s, lil' waist.'" Inspiring stuff from the Democrats," Catholic Vote added.
