U.S. Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ) has now been discovered to have multiple connections to communist China. 

Experts believe that this could really hurt Kelly's chances of becoming Vice President Kamala Harris' running mate. Kelly is believed to be among a very small number of finalists for the job.

The latest revelation comes from the New York Post. 

The outlet published a piece, titled, Sen. Mark Kelly's past days hawking vitamins in China resurfaces amid veepstakes. 

The details

According to the Post's report, Kelly used to sell vitamins for a Chinese company. The outlet provides an anecdote from several years ago.

It reports:

The now-Democratic senator in 2015 barreled onto a stage in the country riding a US and Chinese-flagged motorcycle with Kenny Loggins’ “Danger Zone” blasting in the background to promote Shaklee vitamins . . .“I took Shaklee vitamins and the Shaklee rehydration drink while in orbit aboard the space shuttle,” the former astronaut boasted to the crowd. “They worked very well for me in a very demanding environment. Now, it is up to you,” he urged. “Each and every one of you can create your own successful Shaklee business, and it is the rewards from that business that will help you achieve your own dreams.”

The Post goes on to report that Kelly did stuff like this during a period between 2011 and 2016, and, apparently, he made good money while doing so. Financial disclosures reveal that, in at least one of those years, he earned $50,000.

Kelly has been confronted about this in the past, and he has denied any wrongdoing.

In 2019, for example, a spokesman said, "NASA has had Shaklee products on every space flight since the early 1990s as part of the fluid loading protocol to counteract blood volume loss that happens in space, and Mark found both the rehydration drink and vitamins to be effective."

It has also been reported that Kelly has ties to a spy balloon company that received major funding from a company with ties to communist China.

This report has garnered a lot of attention, given the fact that President Joe Biden recently allowed a Chinese spy balloon to fly across the United States, including over U.S. military sites, before finally deciding to shoot it down.

All of this information about Kelly, however, might just turn out to be moot.

This is because the latest reports indicate that Harris is most likely going to choose Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro (D) to be her running mate.

This information was leaked on Friday, but the Harris campaign is now trying to claim that the leak was a mistake.
