Unearthed records reveal that the 2020 riots continued in Minnesota after the state's governor - Tim Walz (D) - took responsibility for preventing the riots.

This is according to a new report from Fox News.

The outlet actually managed to track down a press conference from May 29, 2020, during which Walz took responsibility.

The full press conference can be found here.

"The responsibility . . . falls on me"

The reader will likely remember that Minnesota was at the center of the 2020 riots. This is because the riots were in response to the death of George Floyd, and the incident that led to Floyd's death took place in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

At the time, Walz was the governor just as he is today, except now he is also the running mate of Vice President Kamala Harris. This is why his record - including his handling of the riots - is being scrutinized.

The press conference, referred to above, took place after particularly destructive riots. Walz was asked to give some kind of assurance to the Minnesota people that this will not happen again.

"I can’t assure you, but the responsibility to ensure it doesn’t happen falls upon me and I will do everything in my power to do that," he said.

Fox reports, "After Walz’s comments on May 29, 2020, Minneapolis was again rocked by riots that evening, according to local media reports." Walz did end up sending in the National Guard, but after much damage had been done.

There's more

As mentioned earlier, Walz, now that he is Harris's running mate, is facing significant scrutiny for his past actions. Walz's wife - Gwen Walz - is also facing scrutiny, particularly for comments that she made during the 2020 riots.

In one interview at the time, she said:

Again we had more sleepless nights during the riots. I could smell the burning tires, and that was a very real thing. And I kept the windows open as long as I could because I felt like that was such a touchstone of what was happening.

Many found this statement troubling, including the Daily Wire's Matt Walsh.

"Everything you need to know about leftist elites can be found in this short clip. Tim Walz’s wife sat by the window enjoying the smell of poor neighborhoods burning during the Floyd riots. She did everything but pull out a fiddle," Walsh wrote.

Walz is already causing a number of problems for Harris, who is dealing with quite a few problems of her own.
