Former President Donald Trump's presidential campaign says that U.S. Sen. Jon Tester (D-MT) is "radically out of touch."

The statement was made, according to Fox News, just after Tester's reelection campaign put out some advertisements.

In the advertisements, according to the outlet, Tester claims that his opponent - Republican Tim Sheehy - is in favor of a total ban on abortions.

Read on to see Trump's response.

"Out of touch"

Fox details the ads that have been released by Tester.

Per the outlet:

The Montana Democrat's first ad last week featured a woman claiming the Republican Senate candidate in Montana, Tim Sheehy, would let an abortion ban be implemented, even in a situation where the procedure is necessary "to save a woman's life or health." In two additional video ads on the subject, women tell viewers that Sheehy would let politicians ban abortion "with no exceptions" and criminalize women.

Before going any further, it is worth noting that this is simply false. Sheehy has said, on multiple occasions, that he is in favor of exceptions to an abortion ban for rape, incest, and to protect the life of the mother.

It was Karoline Leavitt, a Trump spokesperson, who responded to Tester's ads.

She said:

Kamala Harris and Democrats like Jon Tester are radically out of touch with the majority of Americans in their support for abortion up until birth and even after birth, and forcing taxpayers to fund it.

"Radical left lunatic"

Trump recently made a stop in Montana, where he campaigned on behalf of Sheehy, whom he has endorsed. In the process, Trump took some shots at Tester.

The former president said that, despite what Tester has claimed, he does not and has not supported the policies that Trump has supported.

Trump said:

Tester, everyone thinks he's like my best friend. He's never for me once, and yet his commercials are "I like Donald Trump very much." [Tester] said, "I love [Trump's] pride, I love his border stance." He votes against the border. He voted against funding of the border. [Tester] said "I love [Trump's] stance on energy," he voted against our energy programs." He votes against us 100% of the time.

Trump went on to add, "[Tester has] voted in favor of Joe Biden 100% of the time. He did it last time with the election, we had the same problem."

The former president concluded, "You remember [Tester] comes out everyone saying he really likes your policy a lot. He does it like he's a radical left lunatic, just like [Vice President] Kamala [Harris]."
