Kamala Harris calls for economic "equity" while wearing an $18,280 necklace
Vice President Kamala Harris's campaign put out a video this week that featured her and Minnesota Democratic Gov. Tim Walz discussing economic "equity."
Yet as Breitbart noted, the camera caught one detail which led critics to mock the vice president's message.
Walz recalled how his mother was "broke" after his father's death
Harris at one point asked Walz to "tell me about your dad," prompting the governor to recall how his father had passed away when he was a young adult.
"I was 19. My little brother, I think, was eight — eight or nine — when he passed. After he died, my mom was a stay-at-home mom. She became our rock," Walz said.
Harris' running mate then explained that his mother was subsequently forced to work outside the home as "the medical bills broke her."
"And Social Security and Social Security survivor benefits — we’re fine pulling ourselves up by our bootstraps. We had no boots. That's the boots," Walz insisted.
"Equitable treatment means we all end up in the same place"
Walz went on to assert that federal social programs are "just fundamental to keeping people from dropping into poverty" and help Americans "live with dignity."
For her part, Harris expressed agreement with Walz's position, asserting, "We can't have a country and policies that let people fall through the cracks."
In the past, Harris has gone farther than voicing support for a social safety net and called for equality of outcomes, saying in a 2020 ad that "equitable treatment means we all end up in the same place."
It is unclear as to whether or not the vice president plans to redistribute any of her own wealth, but the video with Walz suggests that she has no shortage of financial resources.
Harris sports necklace which sells for more than $18,000
As Daily Wire contributor Bree Dail pointed out in an X post, Harris appears to be wearing a necklace which retails for $18,280.
As @KamalaHarris sits down to chat with @Tim_Walz (not the press) about equity programs, and their common roots…she’s wearing a pearl and gold chain necklace by jewelry designer, Irene Neuwirth.

One person responded to Dail's post by writing, "Well *that’s* inconvenient to the narrative! Maybe she will propose a wealth tax on jewelry??"
Another social media user dubbed the vice president "Kamala 'let them eat cake' Harris," a joking reference to France's Queen Marie Antoinette.
