Kai Trump thanks grandfather after announcing she will play golf at the University of Miami
Former President Donald Trump made headlines this past weekend when he announced a plan to lift taxes on Social Security income.
Yet the former president wasn't the only member of the Trump family to draw attention in recent days, as his eldest granddaughter did as well.
Kai Trump makes college decision
According to Fox News, 17-year-old Kai Trump revealed on Sunday that she is planning to play golf for the University of Miami.
"I would like to thank my mom, Vanessa, and my dad, Don, for always supporting me through my journey. I would also like to thank my great team for getting me to this point," Ms. Trump wrote in a statement on social media.
She then expressed gratitude to the former president, remarking, "I would like to thank my Grandpa for giving me access to great courses and tremendous support."
"I would also like to thank my entire family for always encouraging and pushing me to be the best person I can possibly be," Ms. Trump continued.
"I would like to thank my friends for always cheering me on. Last but not least I would love to thank Coach Janice and Coach Jim for giving me this opportunity," she went on to stress.
Ms. Trump spoke warmly of grandfather in RNC speech
Fox News noted that Kai Trump first gained prominence for the speech she delivered at last month's Republican National Convention (RNC) held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
During the address, Ms. Trump spoke fondly of grandfather and explained that the two are frequently in contact with one another.
"He calls me during the middle of the school day to ask how my golf game is going and tells me all about his, but then I have to remind him that I'm in school and I'll have to call him back later," she said to laughs from the crowd.
What's more, Ms. Trump also addressed the assassination attempt on her grandfather which claimed the life of firefighter Corey Comperatore.

"On Saturday, I was shocked when I heard that he had been shot, and I just wanted to know if he was OK," the young woman recalled.

As she drew to a close, Ms. Trump asserted that her grandfather "truly wants the best for this country. And he will fight every single day to make America great again."
