GOP VP nominee Vance's jet forced to make 'emergency landing' in Wisconsin after experiencing mechanical issue
Ever since Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) was named as former President Donald Trump's running mate, the Democratic narrative -- bolstered by their media allies -- is that Vance is a "weird" person who does "weird" things and is unlike the vast majority of the American people that he hopes to serve as the next vice president.
What is "weird," though, is that Vance's campaign plane was forced to make an emergency landing in Wisconsin on Friday after suffering a mechanical "malfunction" exactly one week after Trump's jet experienced a similar emergency landing in Montana due to an unspecified "mechanical issue," according to The Epoch Times.
What isn't "weird" in all of that is that Vance was accompanied in that odd experience by his family's beloved German Shepard dog Atlas, which counters the narrative that he is unlike other Americans given the broad popularity of that breed specifically and dog ownership more generally.
Vance's campaign jet makes emergency landing one week after Trump's jet did the same thing
According to the Times, Sen. Vance had just wrapped up a campaign visit to Wisconsin and was returning home to Ohio when his Boeing 737-86J jet, dubbed "Trump Force Two," suffered a malfunction with the door seal and was forced to quickly turn around and make an emergency landing in Milwaukee.
Spokeswoman Taylor Van Kirk said in a statement, "The pilot advised there was a malfunction with the door seal. After declaring an emergency, Trump Force Two returned to Milwaukee. As soon as the issue was resolved, the plane returned to its originally planned flight path back to Cincinnati."
Reporters on the ground observed that the local fire department was on hand to greet the plane as it landed just in case their response was necessary and that a thorough inspection of the aircraft was conducted before it resumed its flight back to Ohio.
Just one week earlier, as former President Trump was headed to a campaign event in Bozeman, Montana, his "Trump Force One" jet was forced to divert to Billings and make an emergency landing after it suffered an unspecified mechanical problem that was later corrected.
In the meantime, Trump caught a hop on a separate private jet and made it to Bozeman on time for the event before returning to his official plane in Billings afterward to continue with a campaign swing through the Western states.
Vance's dog brought along for campaign visit to Wisconsin
Meanwhile, as Sen. Vance experienced the emergency landing in Milwaukee, he was accompanied by his family and their dog, a young German Shepard pup named Atlas, who was likely brought along to show that he was a normal dog-owning American and counter the Democrats' "weird" narrative about him, according to The U.S. Sun.
A viral video on social media showed the senator following the leashed dog up the stairs into the jet while holding an umbrella during a heavy downpour.
Vance shared that video in an X post and wrote of Atlas, "Can't really tell in this video, but he was *not happy* about the wet metal stairs. He's doing good on the plane though. We've had two GSDs, and both of them do this thing where they find the one person who doesn't like dogs and they suck up to them."
Interestingly enough, the inclusion of Atlas on Vance's campaign trip came just a few days after his Democratic vice presidential opponent, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, was featured in Vogue magazine with his own dog, a black labrador-retriever mix named Scout, which the left-leaning magazine declared was "America’s Best Friend" as part of the media's absurd and inauthentic love affair with and ridiculously positive coverage of the Democratic ticket.
Atlas said to be an "extremely good dog" during campaign trip
According to the New York Post, the 10-month-old Atlas was described by Vance and his campaign as an "extremely good dog" who loves to eat whatever food he can get and play with whatever toys are in reach, regardless of whether they belong to him or not.
Campaign sources told the Post of the Vance family and their dog, "They took him off leash most of the day last week when he came on the plane with us, and he was great," while spokeswoman Van Kirk used the opportunity to take a swipe at Vice President Kamala Harris' avoidance of the media as she said, "Atlas had a great time on the campaign trail, and unlike Kamala, he enjoyed meeting the press."
