Pro-life Americans were outraged earlier this year when New York Attorney General Leticia James attempted to block pregnancy centers from helping women reverse chemically induced abortions.

However, they had reason to cheer this week when a judge appointed by former President Donald Trump crushed her attempt.

Lawsuit concerns Abortion Pill Reversal protocol

At issue is the Abortion Pill Reversal protocol, which involves a woman taking a prescribed dose of bioidentical progesterone in an effort to reverse the effects of the abortion drug.

This past May, James announced that she would be filing 11 lawsuits aimed at stopping them from advocating for the protocol or aiding women in obtaining prescriptions for bioidentical progesterone.

In response, the National Institute of Family and Life Advocates, Gianna's House, and the Options Care Center, filed a lawsuit against her.

They argued that the state attorney general was violating their First Amendment right to free speech, a position with which U.S. District Judge John Sinatra.

Judge grants injunction against James

"The First Amendment protects Plaintiffs' right to speak freely about [abortion pill reversal] protocol and, more specifically, to say that it is safe and effective for a pregnant woman to use in consultation with her doctor," the judge wrote in his ruling.

"Indeed, the 'very purpose of the First Amendment is to foreclose public authority from assuming a guardianship of the public mind through regulating the press, speech, and religion,'" he added.

The pregnancy centers suing James were represented by the conservative Alliance Defending Freedom, (ADF) which celebrated Sinatra's decision.

"Women in New York have literally saved their babies from an in-progress chemical drug abortion because they had access to information through their local pregnancy centers about using safe and effective progesterone for abortion pill reversal," ADF attorney Caleb Dalton was quoted as telling the Daily Wire.

"Women should have the option to reconsider an abortion"

"But the attorney general tried to deny women the opportunity to even hear about this life-saving option," Dalton complained.

"Women should have the option to reconsider an abortion, and the pro-life pregnancy centers we represent in this case truthfully inform them about that choice," the lawyer insisted.

Dalton concluded by saying that Sinatra "was right to affirm the pregnancy centers' freedom to tell interested women about this life-saving treatment option."

" A free people [claim] their rights, as derived from the laws of nature."
