Gov. J.B. Pritzker warns that Trump should not be 'underestimated' in upcoming debate

The upcoming debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump will likely be one for the ages. After all, the last person Trump debated ended up being ousted from the race altogether.

Democrats, including the Harris campaign and it surrogates, have talked quite a bit of trash regarding the upcoming debate, implying that Trump is scared or hesitant, which is laughable.

But recently, as the debate inches closer, some of Harris' mouthpieces, like Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker, seem to be playing the expectation game at this point.

According to Fox News, Pritzker recently warned that Trump should not be "underestimated" on the debate stage.

What did he say?

During a recent CNN debate, Pritzker's tone was markedly different than other Democrats who falsely believe Harris will emerge victorious in a debate with Trump.

I don't think anybody should underestimate Donald Trump," Pritzker told CNN's Sara Sidner. "He has a won a couple of debates that he did. Certainly, people would say that he won the debate against President Biden a couple of months ago."

The Illinois governor, once thought to be a frontrunner for Harris' VP pick, said the former president should not be "underestimated."

"We saw that he won the debate against Hillary Clinton when he ran the first time," Pritzker said of Trump. "He's not to be underestimated."

The governor was careful to throw in some praise for Harris, but continued to warn that Trump is a formidable debate opponent.

"We shouldn't be thinking that somehow Kamala Harris has a greater ability to win a debate than Donald Trump," Pritzker said. "They're going to come in as significant rivals with very, very different points of view."

Social media reacts

Users across social media had their own views on Pritzker's bizarre warning.

"That’s why she’s only doing 1 debate max and is trying to get out of that," one X user wrote.

Another X user wrote, "I'm genuinely wondering who is underestimating Trump? The last guy Trump debated had to end his re-election campaign."
