Fox News's Sean Hannity has provided new details about the latest attempt on former President Donald Trump's life.

Hannity, in fact, spoke with Trump just moments after the assassination attempt that took place at a golf course in Florida on Sunday.

Unlike the previous assassination attempt, it appears that Trump got through this one unscathed, thanks, in part, to the Secret Service.

Before we get to what Hannity had to say, we'll briefly catch you up to speed on the assassination attempt.

Just two months apart

The latest assassination attempt comes just about two months after the first one, which took place at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. On that occasion, the former president was shot in the ear.

This time, the shooting took place at about 1:30 pm on Sunday, when Trump was on the fifth hole of the Trump International Golf Club West Palm Beach in Florida.

Fox reports, "shots [were] fired by Secret Service agents who saw the suspect with an AK-47, which he discarded as he fled in a black Nissan. The man, who was not identified, was arrested a short time later."

Since the, the suspect has been identified as 58-year-old Ryan Wesley Routh. He managed to get within about 400 yards of Trump with the rifle. NBC reports that Routh has a long criminal rap sheet.

He has been charged, according to the outlet, "two federal counts: possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number."

Hannity's scoop

Hannity revealed how the Secret Service handled the situation.

He said:

Within seconds, the Secret Service pounced on the president and covered him. You had snipers with tripods. They knew the direction where the shots had been fired. And they had eyes on the location where the shots had been fired.

The Secret Service, according to Hannity, quickly escorted Trump to the clubhouse. There, it appears that Trump was in good spirits, making sure that everyone was okay and even trying to lighten the mood with a joke.

Hannity added:

There’s not a lot of details at this moment. Now, I would assume we’re going to get more information from the Secret Service. I know that there were at least 30 to 50 sheriffs' deputies and West Palm Beach police there. They responded immediately. I happened to be driving in and around the area. I drove past Mar-a-Lago to see what was going on. There was a heavy, heavy police presence there.

Indeed, details, at the time of this writing, are continuing to come in.
