Trump tells Harris it's 'too late' for another debate

It does not appear that former President Donald Trump is interested in debating Vice President Kamala Harris for a second time.

In Trump's judgment, in fact, it is "too late" to hold another debate because voting in the 2024 presidential election is already underway.

Trump said, according to Newsman, during a recent campaign event in Wilmington, North Carolina.

This comes as Harris appears to be trying to goad Trump into participating in another debate.

Reports came out over the weekend indicating that Harris has agreed to do a second debate against Trump.

Just the News reported:

Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris's campaign says that she has agreed to do another presidential campaign debate, this time on CNN. The proposed debate would take place on Oct. 23...

The outlet goes on to quote Harris's campaign chairwoman Jen O’Malley Dillon as saying, "The American people deserve another opportunity to see Vice President Kamala Harris and Donald Trump debate before they cast their ballots."

Clearly, Harris and her campaign think that the first presidential debate was a success and, thus, they want to do another.

But, the big question is whether Trump is on board.

The answer appears to be a clear 'no'

At the time of this writing, it does not appear as though Trump is interested in a second debate. In fact, he has made this very clear for weeks now, since the first debate.

In North Carolina, Trump said:

The problem with another debate is that it's just too late: Voting has already started. She's had her chance to do it with Fox. You know, Fox invited us on, and I waited and waited, and they turned it down. They turned it down, but now she wants to do a debate right before the election with CNN because she's losing badly.

Trump went on to insist that he won the first debate and that this is the reason why Harris is looking to do a second one.

He said:

You know, it's like a fighter. She sees the polls. She sees what's happening. She's losing badly. But it's like a fighter who goes into the ring and gets knocked out: The first thing he says is, "I want a rematch."

We will have to see if Trump changes his mind on this or not on this one. But, at the time of this writing, Trump has clearly indicated that there will be no more debates.
