Barron Trump received attention earlier this month when he began attending classes at New York University's Stern School of Business.

While his reception appears to have been largely positive, security concerns have forced the former president's youngest son to turn down selfie requests.

Secret Service checks IDs before students can enter class

That's according to the Daily Mail, which noted that Trump is consistently "flanked by a secret service detail and driven to school in a motorcade of blacked-out SUVs."

One student explained to the newspaper that "[t]here were several guards outside the door before class and we had to show them our IDs."

The Daily Mail did not indicate whether or not Barron's security protocols have changed in the wake of assassination attempts on his father.

Secret Service agents opened fire on and ultimately captured an armed man named Ryan Wesley Routh at former President Trump's golf course just over a week ago.

What's more, the former president was grazed by a bullet while speaking at a Pennsylvania rally last month. While Trump survived the attack, one of his supporters was killed.

"Of course, who wouldn't want to be friends with a Trump?"

While a number of faculty members have publicly condemned Barron's father, the younger Trump has received friendly reception from some of his fellow students.

One young woman expressed an interest in getting to know Barron, telling the Daily Mail, "Of course, who wouldn't want to be friends with a Trump?"

Meanwhile, a young man spoke positively of Barron, and expressed an interest in collaborating with him on "a diss track" aimed at Vice President Kamala Harris.

Mr. Trump says youngest son is "a very smart guy"

However, one student indicated that she would "absolutely not" want to be friends with the former president's son before adding, "It speaks to the privilege that a lot of the NYU kids have. I'm only here because of financial aid."

For his part, former President Trump expressed words of praise for Barron, stating, "He was accepted to a lot of colleges. He's a very smart guy, and he'll be going to Stern, the business school, which is a great school at N.Y.U."

"He's a very high aptitude child, but he's no longer a child. He's just passed into something beyond child-dom. He's doing great," Mr. Trump stressed.
