You know you've made a mistake as a high-profile Democrat if virtually anyone at CNN criticizes you. 

According to the New York Post, that's what's happening now with Vice President Kamala Harris, specifically on the southern U.S. border issue.

While most Americans understand and realize the seriousness of the continued immigration crisis at the southern border, Harris has been accused of pushing it aside, or at least refusing to dig below the surface of the issue.

CNN’s Abby Phillip made that clear in a recent segment, arguing that Harris' approach to the border situation -- and other key issues -- is to "float above it all" and to avoid "some of the nitty-gritty details."

What did she say?

Phillip's remarks on Harris' handling of the border situation came during her nightly "NewsNight" program on CNN. Probably to the surprise of many, she was actually truthful on the subject.

The Post noted:

Phillip made the comment during a panel discussion on her nightly news show “NewsNight” in which the participants debated the Harris campaign’s recent announcement that the vice president would pay a visit to the southern border to tout her credentials on the issue of immigration.

Phillip called it like it is regarding what she described as a "last-minute" trip to the southern border because her campaign knows that it has to take some kind of action on the issue.

"She’s hoping to change the narrative that she’s soft on immigration," noting that former President Donald Trump is significantly stronger on the issue -- an issue that will be at the top of mind of millions of voters in November.

Phillip added, "One of the things about this moment, I mean, the Harris campaign has just been trying to float above it all, to float above the immigration arguments, float above some of the nitty-gritty details on some of this policy."

"But this shows that they realized they have to do something," the CNN host continued.

Video resurfaced

A damning video of Harris chanting during a protest with open border activists resurfaced this week, causing yet another headache for her campaign.

Social media users reacted to the embarrassing video.

"Like Kamala said, 'her values haven't changed', she is a pro illegal immigrant, open border, revolutionary communist. When you want to see it all burnt down, you are unfit to be President," one X user wrote.
