Facing rumors of an affair, Donald Trump Jr. took a surprise trip to the Balkans this week.

The eldest child of President Trump traveled to Serbia and Romania to sell Eastern Europe on his father's presidential hopes and his call for a quick end to the war in Ukraine.

Back home, Donald Jr. is under scrutiny for alleged cheating with a local Palm Beach socialite. Bettina Anderson, a 37-year-old philanthropist, is facing scrutiny as well over a drug bust in the Bahamas, the Daily Mail reported.

Affair rumors

Anderson was reportedly seen kissing Don at a bar in Palm Beach on August 17. The Mail published a photo of them having brunch together.

"'She seemed totally smitten with Don – and he with her," one witness said.

"They looked totally relaxed, she wearing a white shirt tied off to show her midriff and wide leg pants, he in shorts and a t-shirt."

The alleged dalliance reportedly took Don Jr.'s fiancée, Kimberly Guilfoyle, by surprise - while bringing Anderson, a little-known Palm Beach philanthropist, into the spotlight.

While Anderson may lead a seemingly glamorous life, she had a serious brush with the law in 2015 that almost ended with her brother in prison.

Harry Loy Anderson was piloting a private plane back from the Bahamas that carried hallucinogenic mushrooms. U.S. customs officers found the contraband in one of three cigarette cartons on board.

"When asked about the mushrooms, …. Anderson became very nervous and stated that those were not his; that he did not smoke or drink," a criminal complaint said.

Plea deal

Loy, as he is known by the family, was charged with smuggling and released on $250,000 bond. His sister, one of three passengers on the plane, was a witness in the case.

She was able to vindicate her right to stay in communication with her brother, citing their close relationship and their charity work.

Bettina and Loy are co-founders of The Paradise Fund, a Palm Beach non-profit that provides disaster relief to places like the Bahamas.

Her brother eventually got a plea deal and received a sentence of four years' probation. Loy also had to surrender his pilot's license and pay a $5,000 fine.

President Trump famously does not drink or use drugs, attributing his clean habits to his late brother Fred, an airplane pilot who died from alcoholism.
