Kamala Harris not heeding own climate change rhetoric, spending millions on private jet travel
Here's further proof that Democrats don't care as much about climate change as they claim to.
Despite calling climate change an "existential threat," Democrat presidential nominee Vice President Kamala Harris has spent millions of dollars using a private jet to travel while she campaigns.
A review of Harris's campaign records shows she spent $3.8 million traveling on a private jet in the six weeks she has been campaigning for the presidency.
Actions don't match words
Here's what she said about climate change in 2019:
"There’s no question we have to be practical. But being practical also recognizes that climate change is an existential threat to us as human beings. Being practical recognizes that greenhouse gas emissions are threatening our air and threatening the planet and that it is well within our capacity as human beings to change our behaviors in a way that we can reduce its effects. That’s practical."
Then in 2023 at the United Nations Climate Change Conference, she said this:
"The urgency of this moment is clear. The clock is no longer just ticking, it is banging. And we must make up for lost time. And we cannot afford to be incremental. We need transformative change and exponential impact. As nations, we must have the ambition that is necessary to meet this moment. We must lead with courage and conviction, and we must treat the climate crisis as the existential threat that it truly is. It is, dare I say, our duty and our obligation. Not a choice."
But while she expects everyone else to change their behaviors, she is obviously excepting herself from this requirement.
How much CO2 do private jets emit?
According to BitLux, private jets burn about 5000 gallons of fuel per hour, the equivalent of 400 passenger cars and twice as much as a commercial jet (which typically holds over 100 passengers).
A British source estimated that the 2 tons per hour of CO2 produced by a private jet is equivalent to several months of the average European Union resident's production of CO2.
The number of hours Harris spent on private jets in less than two months would be equivalent to years of the average person's carbon footprint, but that's obviously not much of a concern to her right now.
Harris is taking her quest for power a lot more seriously than she does her commitment to reducing climate change, that's for sure.
That's not surprising because efforts to reduce climate change are only a means for Democrats to virtue signal and lecture the American people about living their daily lives.
Not to mention a way to control people's behavior when they want or need to.
