House Republicans look to set the record straight about J6 committee's findings

Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives are looking to set the record straight about some of the Jan. 6 committee's so-called findings.

U.S. Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA), according to Just the News, is actually looking to get some of the committee's findings repudiated.

If he succeeds, this will be a big win for former President Donald Trump, considering that the Democrats, to this day, still use the committee's "findings" against him.

The big question, though, is whether Loudermilk has enough votes in the House of Representatives to make this happen. The answer, at the moment, is unclear.

Background

This all has to do with the Capitol protest of Jan. 6, 2021.

The reader will likely remember that the House set up a highly partisan committee that consisted of all Democrats and two anti-Trump Republicans. And, the reader will also remember how the committee manipulated things to relentlessly attack Trump. Committee members, at one point, were even caught deleting evidence that they found that was believed to have been favorable to Trump.

Investigations into Jan. 6 have continued, even with the disbanding of the Jan. 6 committee. And, these investigations have begun to uncover the truth about the incident. In the process, it has made findings that have actually contradicted the narrative that has been put forth by the Democrats.

The problem, however, is that there is no way for Congress, according to the rules, to retract the report that was put forth by the Jan. 6 committee.

This is where Loudermilk comes in.

"Contradicts the evidence"

Loudermilk explained on Justice the News's No Noise why it is that he is pursuing this rare repudiation of a committee finding.

There, he said:

My intention is to bring the House floor a resolution that lays out all the evidence that we found that contradicts the evidence that they supposedly or the narrative they put in their report because future generations need to know, do not use this document that the select committee produced as any reflection of a historical record.

Loudermilk gave Just the News a sneak peek of what the resolution would look like.

The outlet reports:

Such a resolution would single out conclusions and declarations of the Thompson-Cheney driven report -- widely adopted by mainstream media -- that have since been proven false or misleading and highlight the specific evidence that gives a more accurate recounting of what transpired in the days leading up to Jan. 6, during the Capitol breach and afterward.

In the process, Loudermilk is hoping to expose the Jan. 6 committee for what it was, namely, a propaganda machine for the anti-Trump crowd.
