Nathan Wade, the former prosecutor who helped Fulton County DA Fani Willis go after former President Donald Trump, and was caught having an inappropriate relationship with Willis, is now facing new trouble.

According to the New York Post, Wade evaded service of a summons issued by the House Judiciary Committee last week, and was recently served a congressional subpoena as a result.

House Judiciary Republicans want Wade to testify as a part of their investigation into Willis' prosecution of the former president.

According to the report, Wade "went into hiding" when he was served the summons and didn't respond for a week. The move was described as "extremely unusual."

What's going on?

The Post noted:

Wade, who was forced off the Trump case after his workplace romance with Willis came to light, apparently went into hiding after the subpoena was issued, refusing to accept service until Thursday, a source familiar told The Post

The report noted that six days after he was served, Wade finally contacted the U.S. Marshals and made an appointment to answer the summons.

The Republican-led committee issued a response in the wake of Wade's evasion of the summons, noting that its never had to involve U.S. Marshals in order to have someone answer.

"The Judiciary Committee has served over 100 subpoenas this Congress. We have done so, for the most part, without controversy or the need to use the US Marshals," Russell Dye, a spokesman for the committee, said in a statement.

Dye added, "Nathan Wade’s evasion of service is extremely unusual and will require the Committee to spend US tax dollars to locate him."

Serious hiding

Wade reportedly went to great lengths to hide from responding to the summons, as it was noted that the U.S. Marshals were unable to locate him during those six days.

"As a result the committee had to use the assistance of the US Marshals, who have also not been able to find Nathan Wade," Dye added.

Why he decided to hide from the government is still unknown.

His testimony, which was scheduled for last Thursday, is currently being rescheduled. It'll be interesting to see what he has to say in front of the committee, where he'll surely be grilled.
