Tim Walz booed in Michigan by college football fans
Vice presidential candidate Tim Walz was booed by University of Michigan fans at Saturday's match against Minnesota.
The humiliating scene deals a blow to the image the Harris campaign has cultivated of Walz: that of a folksy football coach from a small town in the Midwest.
Walz angered Michigan fans who were forced to wait half an hour in the rain because of his motorcade.
Walz gets booed
The Minnesota governor showed up early to tailgate with Michigan, despite the team's rivalry with his home state. Michigan is a critical battleground in the presidential race.
A viral video on TikTok shows a crowd booing Walz and heckling him with the name "Tampon Tim."

Since being elevated to the national stage, Walz has come under scrutiny for his liberal record. More than any other decision, the governor has raised eyebrows for putting tampons in boys' bathrooms in Minnesota's schools.
"Tampon Tim is a weirdo and it's no surprise he was heckled and scurried out of the stadium like a rat," Trump spokesman Steven Cheung said.
Big debate on Tuesday
Despite the jeers he received, Walz wore a big smile while posing for photos he later shared on social media.
"I’ll always be a Minnesota guy. But after meeting some great people at the Big House, I must admit – Michiganders know how to host a good game day," Walz wrote.

Trump fans, meanwhile, mocked Walz for getting booed, with some also noting his colorful, expressive body language.
Walz is said to be battling nerves ahead of his big debate with President Trump's running mate, Yale-educated lawyer J.D. Vance. The Tuesday night debate, hosted by CBS in New York, could be the last major media event before Election Day.
A poll ahead of the debate showed that Walz is seen more favorably in the Midwest than Vance, although opinion of Walz is not much better, with voters split about 50-50.
As in recent election cycles, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania will play a decisive role in deciding the winner of the presidential election. The latest polls show Trump and Harris in a dead heat.
