Former White House press secretary Jen Psaki had recently had warm words of praise for Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, saying that he "reshaped the perception of masculinity."

However, those words have since begun to ring hollow amid allegations that Emhoff once assaulted an ex-girlfriend.

Three friends say victim spoke of assault

The Daily Mail interviewed individuals who claimed to have knowledge of Emhoff's actions in May of 2012 following a Cannes Film Festival event.

One person described themself as a friend of the victim, someone the the Daily Mail referred to only as Jane, and recalled how a sobbing Jane immediately called after the alleged attack.

What's more, two other friends also told the newspaper that Jane had recounted the incident to them as well, and they provided the Daily Mail with photos showing Emhoff and Jane together.

"It was hard to hear her because she was sobbing. She told me she was with a guy and he hit her," the friend who received Jane's phone call was quoted as saying.

Victim was allegedly slapped "so hard she spun around"

"It was very clear what she was telling me. She said she was with a guy, her date, she was at the Cannes Film Festival, and he hit her," the friend explained.

"She was in the car with the guy at the time. I didn't know what to do, I didn't know whether to call the French police. I couldn't get a hold of her after calling back," the individual added.

"In later conversations, but pretty contemporaneous with that, she told me more about the guy," the friend continued. "It was something like 3am. They were trying to get out of there and they both had been drinking. There was a gigantic line for taxis."

"She put her hand on the valet’s shoulder, and as she was talking to him, Doug comes up[,] turned her around by her right shoulder, and she was completely caught off guard. He hauled up and slapped her so hard she spun around," the friend stressed.

Emhoff previously admitted to cheating on first wife with nanny

This is not the first allegation of bad behavior which has been directed towards Emhoff, as Breitbart previously reported that the first gentleman admitted to cheating on his first wife and impregnating their children's nanny.

"During my first marriage, Kerstin and I went through some tough times on account of my actions," Emhoff said in a statement to CNN.

"I took responsibility, and in the years since, we worked through things as a family and have come out stronger on the other side," he insisted.
