An individual who supported the impeachment of the former president is now supporting Donald Trump. 

The man who has made the surprising reversal, according to Fox News, is Gordon Sondland.

For those unfamiliar with Sondland, he started off as a member of the Trump administration, serving as the ambassador to the European Union.

Then, he flipped, serving as one of the Democrats' top witnesses in the first impeachment of Trump.

Now, however, Sondland is back to supporting Trump.

Outside of politics, the New York Post reports that Sonland is "a wealthy hotel magnate." For years, he has also been what the outlet refers to as a "Republican megadonor."

MSNBC left aghast

No one seems to be more shocked by Sondland's reversal than MSNBC's Ari Melber.

It was in an interview with Melber that Sondland revealed that he is back to supporting Trump after the administration of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris has essentially run the country into the ground.

After being asked whether he still disapproves of Trump, Sondland replied:

No, I don’t stand by it, and I’ll tell you why: I’ve now lived four years under the Biden-Harris policies, and I have to say that those policies are not only becoming an existential threat to our country’s way of life, but to our allies as well.

"This is so striking"

This statement was too much for Melber to handle, so he cut Sondland off by shouting, "I’m going to let you finish, but this is so striking. You said it was a ‘no for me’ after that, after Jan. 6. And here we are right now, and you’re saying it’s a yes for you?"

Sondland replied, "It is a yes, for me. It is an absolute yes for me. That is how badly the Biden-Harris team have prosecuted their job."

Melber, though, still kept cutting Sondland off, saying, "But the whole point you seem to be making was that Jan. 6th and that kind of attack on democracy is bigger than any policy—"

"I am seeing so many attacks on democracy that eclipse Jan. 6th," Sondland said.

The back-and-forth between Melber and Sondland continued for some time, with Melber seeming unable to understand why it is that Sondland has switched back to supporting Trump. The MSNBC host was clearly bewildered. The question for this upcoming election is how many more "Sondlands" are out there? Time will tell.
