CNN exposes Tim Walz's lack of accountability for fraud that took place in Minnesota
Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) isn't the type of leader America needs, and many in the mainstream media are emphasizing why that is.
According to Breitbart, Walz was exposed by CNN in recent days after the network described him as a "hands-off leader" regarding certain events and circumstances that happened on his watch as governor of Minnesota.
An independent state auditor has repeatedly accused state agencies under Walz's watch of downplaying or disregarding certain instances of fraud and state government waste, the outlet noted.
CNN Senior Investigative Correspondent Kyung Lah pointed it all out in a recent episode of CNN's "Out Front," presumably causing yet another headache for the Harris campaign.
What did they say?
The CNN correspondent said Walz "has been a hands-off leader when it comes to seeking accountability for episodes of fraud and mismanagement on his watch."
Walz has faced intense and growing scrutiny regarding his time as governor of Minnesota and the amount of alleged fraud that's taken place on his watch, with virtually zero accountability from his office.
"At least 16 reports critical of specific state agencies for allowing alleged fraud, waste, or mismanagement during Walz’s six years as Governor have been published by Minnesota’s independent auditor," Lah reported.
One of the massive fraud schemes that unfolded under Walz was related to the pandemic, the Feeding Our Future scheme. Lah said the Justice Department described the scheme as "the Largest COVID-19 Fraud Scheme in the Nation."
She added that the state auditor's report about the Minnesota Department of Education said the agency "created opportunities for fraud. … Failed to act on warning signs known to the department prior to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and prior to the start of the alleged fraud. [And] [d]id not effectively exercise its authority to hold Feeding Our Future accountable to program requirements."
It also appears as though state agencies sometimes disagree with the findings from the state auditor.
"A spokesperson for Gov. Walz tells CNN that state agencies have implemented suggestions from the state auditor and sometimes they disagree with the auditor’s findings, adding, ‘We are constantly evaluating ways to eliminate fraud and improve government programs[.]’ That spokesperson also added that the Walz administration has beefed up oversight of the Department of Education and spent millions to add staff to help root out bad actors."
CNN doubles down
CNN held nothing back in exposing Walz and the way he governed, running another article on its website regarding the lack of accountability at the state level under Walz.
"As fraud scandals erupt in Minnesota on Gov. Tim Walz’s watch, accountability is in short supply," the article read.
Clearly, Walz has a lot to answer for, but he continues to downplay the serious concerns as if they were no big deal.
