Trump says Obama will vote for him

Former President Donald Trump recently claimed that his predecessor - President Barack Obama - will vote for him.

Trump, of course, was joking, but it is unlikely that either Obama or Vice President Kamala Harris found it funny.

Trump, according to the Washington Examinermade the remark in a message that he posted to his social media account this past week.

It came after Obama decided to hit the campaign trail for Harris. To say the least, Obama's outing was not the most successful.

Obama's rally

On the one hand, Obama's rally for Harris was about what you would expect it to be. Obama, for example, spent plenty of time blasting Trump.

Breitbart News reported:

Former US President Barack Obama lashed out at “crazy” Donald Trump Thursday and urged voters to back Kamala Harris . . . Obama trained his fire on Trump during a pumped-up rally in Pittsburgh, comparing the Republican’s long speeches to late Cuban communist leader Fidel Castro’s and calling the billionaire out of touch with ordinary people.

To the surprise of some, however, Obama did make his fair share of blunders at the rally. For one thing, he suggested that Harris's campaign is lacking energy and, for another, he landed himself in hot water by targeting Black male voters who might vote for Trump.

He said:

We have yet to see the same kinds of energy and turnout in all corners of our neighborhoods and communities as we saw when I was running. I also want to say that that seems to be more pronounced with the brothers.

For this, Obama has even managed to earn the criticism of many Democrats.

Trump responds

The former president decided to weigh in on Obama's campaign performance on Friday.

He wrote:

Obama admits a total lack of enthusiasm for Kamala, especially with Black Men. I think Obama will be voting for me because he doesn't like the fact that Kamala is an extremely Low IQ Person!

Trump following up this joke with a much more serious message, explaining to Black Americans why it is that they ought to vote for him in the 2024 presidential election.

"Kamala’s Border Invasion is killing the jobs of our Black and Hispanic populations. BAD NUMBERS, will only get worse!" Trump wrote.

While it is a virtual certainty that Obama will not be voting for Trump, polls have suggested that Trump could, for a Republican, receive a historic percentage of the Black vote in the upcoming election. Time will tell if these polls are correct.
