As the 2024 presidential race draws to a crescendo, it is no surprise that Democrats are doing all they can to insult and dehumanize their opponent, former President Donald Trump, but their response to an unexpected occurrence at one of his recent rally may represent a new low.

On Monday, during a Trump rally in Oaks, Pennsylvania, a pair of medical emergencies prompted Trump to halt the town hall-style event in favor of an extended musical interlude that offered time and space for the audience members to receive help, as Fox News noted, but his reaction prompted nothing but ridicule from the mainstream press,

Medical incidents unfold at Pennsylvania event

Held at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center & Fairgrounds, the town hall event moderated by South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem was designed to offer voters the opportunity to ask questions of Trump on a range of policy issues views as critical to the presidential race.

The forum was proceeding as planned, with Noem offering her take on Kamala Harris' recent appearance on ABC's The View, and that was when the alarming events at issue began to unfold.

Trump became aware of a potential medical issue in the crowd and stated, “Hold it. A doctor please. Doctor, thank you very much. We have incredible people. They come here hours before, and it's a little hot.”

The former president continued, “They're with us al lthe way. We got to respect them. And you take your time, doctor. Take your time. Thank you very much. We always have great doctors in the audience. We've never had too much of a problem. Look at the quality of care we have. It's incredible when you think that these people, first responders, our first responders are amazing.”

Once the first incident was addressed and a man was wheeled out of the venue, another emergency appeared to be taking place, with Trump once again calling out for medical assistance, saying, “Take your time, doctor.”

Liberals mock Trump response

Noting the intense heat inside the arena and his wish that the doors could be opened to increase ventilation, Trump implored anyone who was able to sit down for the remainder of the event to perhaps prevent the sort of exhaustion that sometimes overtakes rally attendees.

He then made the decision to scuttle the planned question-and-answer format, instead asking event organizers to instead play music for the crowd while he remained on stage, clearly enjoying the tunes himself.

Voices on the left swiftly attempted to make hay out of the situation, with Rob Sheffield of Rolling Stone declaring the rally scene “a bizarre instant-classic trainwreck,” and describing Trump of “waving his arms to the music, lurching side to side, eyes glazed over, shaky on h is feet, dazed and confused.”

“This man's day-to-day neurological Chernobyl is no longer possible to hide,” Sheffield jabbed.

Vice President Kamala Harris attempted to score points with her fans as well, with her campaign accusing Trump of having stood “frozen and silent on stage” as music played for more than half an hour, and the candidate herself snidely stating that she hoped “he's okay.”

“Something very special”

Though it was clear to those in attendance that Trump's decision to deviate from the event's scheduled format was due to his concern for the supporters who waited for hours to see him and were perhaps overwhelmed by the crowds and the heat, liberals used the incident as an opportunity to take pot shots at their opponent.

Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung took a different tack, describing the atmosphere at the town hall as “something very special and said that the former president is “unlike any politician in history, and it's great,” and that is a sentiment with which millions clearly agree.
