Kari Lake's office on lockdown after intern opened package with 'suspicious' substance
Arizona GOP Senate candidate Kari Lake and her staffers had quite the scare this week after someone in her office opened up an envelope that reportedly contained a "suspicious" substance.
According to the New York Post, Lake's Phoenix office was placed on temporary lockdown after the intern reported finding the substance.
Especially concerning was a note included in the package that said "Caution, anthrax."
The note and the package triggered and emergency response from local law enforcement and HAZMAT teams. The substance was sent to the lab for testing.
What's going on?
The package was sent with the election just two weeks out, and in a statement released by Lake, the GOP candidate suggested that it was yet another attempt to silence her.
"The radical left, with help from the mainstream media, has escalated its attacks against me from baseless smears and legal harassment to physical threats. Today, my office received a suspicious envelope, potentially containing anthrax — an attempt to intimidate and silence me,” Lake's statement read.
She added, "This isn’t just about me; it’s an attack on our movement. I won’t be intimidated, and those responsible must be brought to justice. The time to unite against these dangerous, un-American tactics is now."

Statement from campaign
Lake's campaign also released a statement.
"Earlier today, a package labeled as anthrax was delivered to Kari Lake’s office. Thankfully, authorities later confirmed that it was not. While we are relieved, the fear and concern it caused, especially for the young staff members who volunteer their time to safeguard their future and serve a cause greater than themselves, was very real," it read.
"We are deeply grateful for law enforcement’s swift and courageous response, ensuring everyone’s safety. Despite this cowardly attempt at intimidation, our campaign remains undeterred and committed to standing up for what is right."
Social media reacts
Lake's supporters across social media were thankful nobody was immediately hurt and many offered their prayers.
"I pray for safety everyday for Kari and all of our Constitution Loving, God fearing leaders!! God Bless and Protect them today and everyday!! In Jesus precious name, Amen!!" one X user wrote.
Another X user wrote, "Sorry this seems how insane the DNC has become. Praying for you & all your staff."
