Fans of the classic television series "Tarzan" were saddened this week to learn that its beloved star Ron Ely passed away at the age of 86.

According to Fox News, the performer's death was announced by his daughter Kirsten Ely, who hailed her father as "one of the greatest men."

Ely's daughter remembers him as "a hero"

"My father was someone that people called a hero," Kirsten explained in a statement that she provided to the network on Wednesday.

"He was an actor, writer, coach, mentor, family man and leader. He created a powerful wave of positive influence wherever he went," Kirsten recalled.

"The impact he had on others is something that I have never witnessed in any other person – there was something truly magical about him. This is how the world knew him," she noted.

"I knew him as my dad – and what a heaven sent honor that has been," Kirsten said of her father before stressing, "To me, he hung the moon."

"My father’s life story was one of relentless perseverance, unending dedication to his family and friends, courage to do what was right, and willing sacrifice to facilitate the dreams of those he loved," she observed.

Kirsten says her father made the world "a brighter and more meaningful place"

Kirsten went on to assert that her father's life "was also a story of joy and love – something everyone close to him had the privilege of experiencing. Once you knew my father's love, the world grew to be a brighter and more meaningful place."

"I am doing my best to walk this path of loss with the strength and grace that I know he would want for me," she declared.

"I am picking up the pieces of my heart that feel like pieces of him – and cementing those firmly in place before I pick up the rest of the broken bits," Kirsten asserted.

As she drew to a close, the grieving daughter noted how doing this "makes me feel like part of him is still here – and I need that – and the world needs that."

"Wonder Woman" fans call Ely "unforgettable"

In addition to his work on "Tarzan," Ely also appeared in a 1978 episode of the CBS television series "Wonder Woman" starring Lynda Carter.

That fact was highlighted by a social media account devoted to Carter. It remembered Ely as being "iconic" adding, "May the unforgettable King of the Jungle rest in peace."
