New York Democratic Mayor Eric Adams denies that Trump is a fascist
This past weekend saw former President Donald Trump host a massive campaign rally at New York City's Madison Square Garden.
While critics likened Trump's event to a 1939 rally held by American Nazi sympathizers, New York City Mayor Eric Adams slammed that verdict.
"I know what a fascist regime looks like"
According to Breitbart, Adams came to the former president's defense while speaking alongside local law enforcement at a press conference on Saturday.
"You know, I have been — had those terms hurled at me by some political leaders in the city using terms like Hitler and fascist," he said.

"My answer is no," the mayor declared before adding, "I know what Hitler has done, and I know what a fascist regime looks like."
"I think, as I’ve called over and over again, that the level of conversation we could all dial down the temperature," Adams concluded.
Adams accused of selling influence to foreign actors
Interestingly, those words spoken in support of Trump came roughly a month after the former president defended Adams from criminal allegations.
The Associated Press reported that a federal grand jury indicted Adams in late September on charges that he sold influence to individuals linked with foreign governments.
These are said to have included free and heavily discounted upgrades on flights which are estimated to have been worth $100,000.
"I want to be clear, these upgrades and freebies were not part of some frequent flyer or benefits program available to the general public," U.S. Attorney Damian Williams was quoted as saying.
Trump believes Biden administration is attacking Adams over immigration
Meanwhile, the Independent noted that Trump reacted to news of Adams' indictment by suggesting that the charges were politically motivated.
Specifically, the former president speculated that the mayor is experiencing legal problems due to his having criticized the Biden administration on illegal immigration.
"I watched about a year ago when he talked about how the illegal migrants are hurting our city and the federal government should pay us and we shouldn’t have to take them, and I said 'you know what, he’ll be indicted within the year' and I was exactly right," Trump stated.
