Former Democrat mayor arrested on charges related to tens of thousands of child sex abuse images
There's a shocking amount of sick individuals out there, and a former Maryland mayor -- a Democrat -- is definitely one of them.
According to Breitbart, Joel Biermann, a former mayor of a small town outside of the University of Maryland, was arrested this week "on charges related to tens of thousands of child sex abuse images allegedly found in his possession, authorities said."
Biermann served as mayor of University Park in Prince George’s County from 2022-2024, and ironically focused on protecting children during his campaign.
The FBI arrested the former mayor at his home on Monday, officials said.
What's going on?
Biermann, who also served on the town council, had a shocking number of child sex abuse images on his computer -- roughly 45,000, according to reports.
He was appointed by Gov. Wes Moore (D) to serve on the Maryland Veterans Home Commission last July, and now he faces dozens of charges according to the FBI.

Authorities revealed that many of the images were labeled and filed with descriptions like "torture," "bondage," and "rape."
Breitbart added:
The former politician, who ironically claimed that “protecting our children” was his “top priority” while campaigning for reelection according to the outlet, also allegedly traded thousands of Facebook messages with someone outside of the country, requesting them to produce child sex abuse material with two boys that law enforcement believe to be about 11 years old.
Biermann reportedly paid that person a sum of $800 for the images, authorities noted.
Social media reacts
Users across social media reacted to the disgusting and horrific news of the former mayor's arrest, with many noting that other officials in the general area had been arrested on similar charges in the past.
"Right outside DC. The community next door is College Park. That mayor was convicted of similiar charges," one X user pointed out.
Another X user wrote, "Let’s remember the victims in all of this. We need to provide them with the support and resources they need to heal."
Hopefully, the judge and jury make an example of him if he's found guilty. This needs to stop.
